CILIP Accreditation Board Recruitment
Wed 29th Sep, 2010
Got an opinion of content of LIS degrees? Then consider joining CILIP's Accreditation Board
Applications are invited from Chartered Members and Fellows of CILIP to serve on the Accreditation Board. This Board is responsible for assessing all applications from institutions of further and higher education for accreditation of courses in librarianship and information management at degree level. In addition the Board administers the CILIP Seal of Recognition which recognises relevant training and development programmes within the profession.
For a list of currently accredited courses please see this page. A list of current Seal of Recognition holders is available on the CILIP website: www.cilip.org.uk/Seal
As a member of the Accreditation Board you will have the opportunity to contribute significantly to the work of CILIP in one of its key areas of activity, and to help shape the library and information profession of the future. You will also have the opportunity to gain insights into many different aspects of library and information education, and to broaden your own professional awareness.
Applications are invited from CILIP members actively involved in any sector of the information profession: retired members are not eligible to apply. We would particularly welcome applications from members who are working in the public sector, new and emerging areas and/or from the devolved nations. All the work is voluntary; however, all Board members receive travel expenses, along with accommodation and other expenses where appropriate. Board meetings currently take place in London four times a year, but the assessment work continues all year round, and is mostly done electronically.
You should have a proven commitment to staff development and training and, ideally also have experience in assessing against set criteria. Knowledge of current developments in Further and Higher Education is useful. If you would like to become more involved in this aspect of CILIP’s work we would like to hear from you.
An application pack is available from: Qualifications and Professional Development Department, CILIP, 7 Ridgmount Street, London WC1E 7AE. Tel: 020 7255 0610 email: firstname.lastname@example.org. To discuss the post informally please contact Heather Taylor or Marion Huckle.
Please note that the closing date for applications is: Monday 11th October 2010
