Project Information

Background to LIMES

The Library and Information curriculum has changed and adapted as the diversity of employment opportunities for graduates has increased. There is now an even greater imperative for academic departments to make appropriate changes as the range of skills required by employers grows. Together with the traditional library and information skills, such as cataloguing and enquiry work, skills such as knowledge management, web development and negotiation are being demanded by employers.

LIMES will address this demand for advanced information skills by working with academic departments, employers, specialist employment agencies and professional associations. The project will look at existing teaching materials and help design new materials designed to help library and information professionals enhance and assess their skill sets. LIMES will work with academics to identify and provide a framework to embed suitable teaching and learning materials in the curricula, enhancing graduates’ employability.
