LIMES Glossary
- BAILER: British Association for Information and Library Education and Research. Bailer includes all teaching and research staff in the eighteen Information and Library Schools in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Its aims and objectives are to reflect and help focus the evolution of the field of information and library studies; an essential part of that evolution is the development and encouragement of teaching and research staff and member institutions.
- CILIP: Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals is a membership body which supports library and information professionals throughout the UK. CILIP offers internationally recognised qualifications, accredits university courses and provides a range of member services.
CILIP speaks with one voice on behalf the profession to government, key agencies in all sectors of the economy, the public, and the European Union and other international bodies.
- HEA : The Higher Education Academy. The Academy works with universities and colleges, discipline groups, individual staff and organisations to help them deliver the best possible learning experience for all students.
- PDP : Personal Development Portfolios provide a means of self-assessment to ensure achievements and progress, whether personal or professional, can be recorded and evidenced.
- RAPID : Recording Academic, Professional and Individual Development. This is an example of a portfolio through which students and newly qualified professionals can map their employability skills. A version has been created which relates specifically to information and library science students. It is available in hardcopy and electronic version (password protected).
