Help with the ICS HE-Academy website

We aim to provide information here on using and accessing our website. If you have any questions not answered here please feel free to contact us by email ( heacademy-ics@ulster.ac.uk ) or phone (028 9036 8020).

1.Navigation

The home page is the main gateway for accessing all the features on the site. It has the main navigation bar along the top which also remains on every page. Also included are additional 'Quick Links' to allow fast and easy access to regualry visited features. For users surfing with images switched off, a text alternative description will replace the image. Links are highlighted and underlined in blue eg: this is a text link Note that many of our webpages are actually taller than your computer monitor so remeber to use the arrows on the right hand side of your web browser to scroll down pages.

2.Text Colour and Size

All text on the site is either size 10 or 12 Arial. However, this can be enlarged for visitors with poor vision. The same with colour.

In Internet Explorer go to: Tools > Internet Options > Accessibility In Netscape Navigator go to : Edit > Preferences > Appearance > Fonts

3. Printing Pages

All pages have a white background to allow easy and economical printing. There are a number of ways to print a page: Either:

1. Go to 'File' on the browsers menu bar and choose 'Print' or

2. Click the Printer icon on the browsers tool bar or

3. Press CTRL and P on the keyboard together.

4. Saving Pages

Any page from our website can be save to your computer so you can keep it as reference or to read it off line.

To save a page: Go to 'File' on the browsers menu bar and choose 'Save'

5. Downloading Documents

Some of our web pages include documents that can be downloaded such as Powerpoint slides and MS Word documents. To download a document like this:

Click on the blue link and a pop up box will appear asking you to save the file.

6. Compressed Files

Some downloadable files are compressed in a format called 'Zip'. They decrease download times and occupy less space. To open a 'zip' file you will require free zip software to uncompress the files:

7. Portable Document Format (PDF)

Files Many posters and paper based materials are available to download in PDF format. To view these files you will need Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer.

8. Reporting Problems
