(External) Enhancement Themes

The Enhancement Themes initiative aims to enhance the student learning experience in Scottish higher education by identifying specific areas (Themes) for development. The Themes encourage academic and support staff and students to share current good practice and collectively generate ideas and models for innovation in learning and teaching.

The Subject Centre has established a network of regional representatives throughout UK Higher Education Institutions to ensure that every region is aware of, and can avail of, the work and the services provided by the Subject Centre and to facilitate the dissemination of identified best practice.

(External) HEA Academy Scotland (Higher Education Academy)

Scotland has a distinctive higher education system, and the concept of Academy Scotland has been developed to recognise and support this.

sparqs is a free service which is funded by the Scottish Funding Council to assist and support students, students' associations and institutions to improve the effectiveness and engagement in quality assurance and enhancement in institutions across Scotland.

The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) provides independent assessment of how higher education institutions in the UK maintain their academic standards and quality.

The Scottish Funding Council (SFC) distributes more than £1.6 billion to Scotland’s colleges and universities for teaching and learning, research and other activities in support of Scottish government priorities.

(External) Lifelong Learning Strategy for Scotland

This plan sets out a five-year strategy to boost lifelong learning in Scotland. It follows the Enterprise and Lifelong Learning Committee's recent inquiry into lifelong learning.
