About us

The Subject Centre for Information and Computer Sciences is one of 24 Subject Centres funded by the Higher Education Academy. These are based in higher educational institutions throughout the UK, the centres offer subject specific expertise and information on learning and teaching for the HE community. The Higher Education Academy-ICS is hosted at the University of Ulster in collaboration with Loughborough University.

The Centre operates a set of core principles which have contributed to its considerable success. Based on the cultural principles of inclusivity and responsiveness, the Centre has successful recruited from and served the ICS community. The Centre currently covers all the home countries and this should be preserved, to ensure the widest possible debate and exchange of expertise.

The ethos of the Centre is that it exists primarily to serve the ICS academic (who within their institutions can provide the necessary support to enhance the student experience).

Events

The Centre organises an extensive programme of events to provide opportunities for professional development in learning and teaching within the ICS community. Regional events, workshops and a high profile annual conference are complemented by a programme of web-based activities enabling participation and interaction throughout the community.
