Abstract
The traditional model of full-time Higher Education in the UK assumes students are available on campus for five days and that they study 40 hours per week for two semesters/ three terms. However, many students now take on additional term-time paid employment. This paper explores how students manage these changes. It presents the results of a survey of term-time employment patterns of IT students in two universities in the north west of England . The context of student debt, income and reasons for term-time work and possible impact on academic study are discussed.
