Abstract

HEA-ICS has a set of priority areas in which is wishes to work. Individual departments and schools also have their own sets of priorities. Our discipline areas experience frequent changes; we have a fast moving curriculum. Currently student recruitment appears to be declining, and we have been included in the group of subjects which are identified nationally as being “Strategic and Vulnerable”.

The annual conference, the ITALICS journal, workshops and regional networks have all been used to take forward identified priority areas and to provide forums for the discussion of our future directions. This interactive workshop will build on recent regional work undertaken in the South of England on behalf of the HEA-ICS. The objective of the 90 minute session is to consolidate community feedback on priority areas which have been identified through regional consultations and begin to map out a way forward for future activities.
