Abstract

Learning about object-oriented programming is well-known to be problematic for some students. A surface apathetic approach to learn ing has been shown to correlate negatively with performance, and so detection of this approach could be used as an early-warning for at-risk students. Identification of students in danger of failure would allow for interventions and support strategies which are more likely to lead to success. This project links the ASSIST learn ing inventory to a “ learn ing approaches” WIKI to provide students with an on-line “diagnosis and immediate prescription”, in terms of learn ing object-oriented programming.
