Educational Grand Challenges and Related Issues

Abstract

A Computing Grand Challenges conference, held in Newcastle in 2004, addressed both research-based and education-based grand challenges. These were revisited in March 2006 at a subsequent conference held in Glasgow. The author had responsibility for the educational aspects of these events and for reporting on them. In this talk the intention is to review these activities and to provide some insights into how these are being addressed as well as the challenging work facing academics.
