Speak-Write Project (Anglia Polytechnic University)
The aim of the nationally-acclaimed Speak-Write programme is to create research-based resources for use in developing advanced communication skills in the HE and business sectors. The Speak-Write team is based in the English Department at Anglia Polytechnic University, Cambridge.

The National Union of Students (NUS) is involved in 3 projects: Stadia, NSLP and ESECT :

  • Stadia– key skill development with accreditation (NEBS)
Stadia is a UK wide initiative which encompasses all aspects of student development, from clubs and societies and student sport, to volunteering in the community and part time work experience. It promotes the importance of these activities in students’ all round education to colleges and universities, employers and the government. It also supports practitioners in the field through a series of nationwide events, publications, regional networks and an online newsgroup.

NEBS is the awarding body for general and specific management qualifications. It is committed to developing qualifications to meet the needs of today’s managers at all levels across the country, and has been working in the field for over 35 years.

  • The National Student Learning Programme (NSLP) aims to disseminate key skills among students through peer-based training. Its purpose is to help build strong students’ unions and develop individual students. Workshop sessions are delivered in students’ unions by students themselves, who are trained to be trainers at a series of residential training events.

  • ESECT, funded by HEFCE is the Enhancing Student Employability Co-ordination Team. On this team, NUS works with a number of different organisations (including the Higher Education Academy, Association of Graduate Recruiters and the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services) to develop practical ways to enhance student employability.
