Pre-Uni Advice

All too often students are unaware of the broad range of careers that are open to an ICS graduate. Furthermore many school leavers have pre-conceived misconceptions about what a university education in ICS might entail. This section seeks to provide clarification which will help both the selection and recruitment process and the choice of career options post-graduation.

There are a number of sites which strive to help students in making their university selection.

The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) is the central organisation that processes applications for full-time undergraduate courses at UK universities and colleges.

Higher Education and Research Opportunities in the UK HERO provides information on UK University courses, funding and application processes. The HERO support Support4Learning website also offers comprehensive information on careers advice.

Push Online provides further independent advice on everything from academic standards to the price of a pint.

The DfES Higher Education Gateway provides information on a wide range of topics to enable students and their parents or advisers to make effective decisions.

Connexions also provides advice for 13-19 including careers advice.
